THE MISSION
SBEV’s mission is to cultivate leadership capacity. We will serve all people in a dignified manner regardless of gender, race or religion, and work to empower the youth of underserved neighborhoods in their communities to give them a voice in the world. By developing and investing in youth we desire to transform underserved areas into just and equitable communities
DESIGN GOALS
As a graphic designer for SBEV, I developed a comprehensive branding kit for their multi-city branches in Chicago, Flint, and Brooklyn. My design work encompassed creating multiple logo variations, branded patterns for promotional materials across different program areas including Arts, Athletics, STEM, Music, and Academics. Additionally, I redesigned their website header and Instagram highlights. To ensure authenticity and meaningful design, I deeply engaged with the community by volunteering time in program activities and community events, taking a collaborative approach that prioritized designing with the community rather than simply for them.
REFLECTION
During my internship at Silverter and Broom, I experienced the transformative power of design by witnessing how my creative work could positively impact communities. This experience was profoundly rewarding, offering insights into the corporate design environment and demonstrating the meaningful connection between professional graphic design and social engagement.
